Here at Houston Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club the student is our main focus.  Our goal is to provide you with a clean, safe and friendly training environment to practice the latest techniques.  We want to provide you with REAL-LIFE self-defense that anyone can use.  We want you to be a well-rounded martial artist that can handle himself/herself whether the fight is on the ground or on the feet.  We offer the ultimate martial art in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to cover the grappling and we also offer MMA and Kickboxing to cover the stand-up game. The key to becoming a  proficient student  is patience and consistency.  We pride ourselves on the fact that we have the best instructors.  They are experienced in the theory as well as the application of the techniques.  Our instructors are still active competitively as this should ensure that the techniques taught can be used in competition.  They are also patient and understanding with one common goal in mind; "Making you the best and most complete martial artist that you can be!".    

Another important aspect is knowing the difference between Sport Jiu-Jitsu and the Jiu-Jitsu used in a real fight.  Fortunately, the background of Head Instructor Art Alvarado is with the legendary Gracie family.  And he is backed by Carlos "Caique" Elias who is a black belt under Helio and Rickson Gracie.  Art Alvarado was in the Gracie Instructor Program in Torrance, California.  There he had the privilege of  learning from Rorion, Royce, Rolker, Robin and the one and only Grandmaster Helio Gracie!  

Art Alvarado is now a Certified Black Belt.  He is the Official Representative for Team Caique here in Houston, Texas; and is one of the highest ranking instructors in the state of Texas.  He is willing to teach anyone who is sincere in learning the art of Brazilian/Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
